Apple
The apple is a deciduous tree up to 30 ft (9.1 m) in the wild. Heartwood can vary from a light reddish or grayish brown to a deeper red/brown. Apple wood often showcases subtle streaks of light and dark—much like the patterns found in olivewood—set against a pale cream sapwood. Its grain is predominantly straight, though occasional “wild” sections add a touch of character, and the texture remains exceptionally fine and uniform, reminiscent of cherry. Because apple wood is rarely milled into large boards, it’s most often encountered in small, artisan pieces.
